Building on its successes: improving the value & delivery of current programs & services & increase the range of programs & services.
Moving in new directions: build the brand of Kinesiology & Kinesiologists in BC; improve the desirability & value of membership in the BCAK, & continue to reassess & ready the BCAK, its members, & the Kins of BC for regulation.
Specific Areas of Focus for 2010 & Desired Outcomes
Maintaining Standards - minimum education requirements for Practicing members, as well as the carrying of errors & omissions insurance, requiring continuing education credits for renewal, & having a code of ethics in place.
Governance – governing the BCAK according to the BC Society Act & its constitution & bylaws, revising its policies, focusing the directors in governing & providing the required support. We have made significant progress in this over the past year and strive to strengthen this even more in 2010.
Operations – revising BCAK’s operational procedures, & its organizational & operational structure & capacity to meet its ongoing needs. In 2010 we will be providing the association with comprehensive policies and procedures to guide its operations in the future. This will reduce delays and expense associated with decision-making.
Finances – continue to improve BCAK’s financial & business model, look for new revenue sources, & look for savings within BCAK’s operations.
Marketing, Promotions & Communications – market Kins, increase the use of Kins & help clients pay for their services, & continue to improve communications with members & other audiences. In 2009 the Marketing Committee was successful in producing a selection of marketing media for the association including:
- brochures - floor banner - tabletop banner
These resources will be available to the association's membership in the promotion of Kinesiology to the public. The committee also implemented a members RESEARCH DATABASE to provide a resource to Kinesiologists to stay up to date and current on literature and research pertaining to the field of kinesiology and other allied health professions.
Business Tools
The importance of running a business, working within a business and dealing the public are realities our membership faces at all times. The BCAK is dedicated to providing 'tools' to its members to assist them with the day to day challenges of being in business and providing quality, cost-effective and professional services to their clients. Our growing library of BUSINESS TOOLS will be updated regularly and we will remain responsive to members when asked to provide information to assist them in their efforts to advance the field of kinesiology.
